One of the best reasons for living in Central PA is the fun you can have on the river!
It is really fun and relaxing to spend time on the river kayaking or enjoying music and art at a festival in Riverfront park. Sometimes I just like to sit & people watch. This weekend is a great opportunity for runners to participate in the Capital 10 Miler - A run for the Arts.
This race has a nice mainly flat course that goes right through Shipoke and past 573 S. Front Street. If you are a runner - you have to check it out! When you sail throught the beautiful river view village of Shipoke just think - If you lived there - you would be home! I can help you make that happen!
According to the website: This 10 mile race will benefit many area arts organizations. The event will start and finish on City Island, with the course including the riverfront, Capital Area Greenbelt, and the scenic bridges over the Susquehanna.
“Last year's race attracted a lot of interest,” reports Mary Lou Harris, the event founder and director, who is a local marathon runner and regional arts supporter. “Over 600 runners registered last year and we expect more this year.”
Registrants over the years included runners from several Mid-Atlantic and New England states as well as local and regional participants. Registrations begin in early 2017 and are limited.
The Capital 10-Miler is administered by Open Stage of Harrisburg, a not-for-profit professional regional theatre, funded, in part, by the Cultural Enrichment Fund, the capital region's united arts fund. Open Stage of Harrisburg is a Constituent of Theatre Communications Group (TCG), the national organization for American theatre.
